Why was the Community of Practice established?

The use of animals and animal-derived products in biomedical research is a growing area of concern from both an ethical and scientific quality perspective. As a result, non-animal-derived tools and technologies are being increasingly adopted by the scientific community. Some obstacles to the rate of this uptake include insufficient awareness, access, expertise and validation and standardisation of these tools.

To support and drive the transition to animal-free, human-focused research, Animal Free Research UK and the Alliance for Human Relevant Science created this one-of-a-kind online community to allow networking and knowledge sharing amongst biomedical scientists from around the world.

We invite you to add content, share resources and collaborate on projects by creating news articles and events, answering polls, posting on forums and much more.

Membership is free and the platform is sustained by its members and Animal Free Research UK .
